last post

it sucks to think that this will be our last post but we are at the end of the trip and must go home. so my question is: where is this warm winter everyone was talking about? it looks pretty damn cold to me. anyways, sweeden was rad, much better than we expected. we met all kinds of cool people, saw some sweet shows and blew loads of cash. we are now back in amsterdam and hating every moment of it. the weather is god aweful and it just gets old fast, too many stupid americans (man, have you tried the hash...dude.......). Its hard to meet anyone cool here when half the hostel is blazed out of their gord. We'll see you all at the cc on thursday.

once again, mike is a freak.

so guys,
sweden has been the coolest shit ever. the people we meet here are soooo nice and open minded. we went and saw "career suicide" last night and i was not to impresed. really mediorce hardcore in the weak vain of "fucked up" but with more hype and less talent. but enough of the shit talk...... so we will be back on the first of march and i expect EVERYONE to be at the C.C. CLUB! this includes everyone from j.j. to mike lee! i really dont want to come home but i know i have to and that honestly makes me happy. to see all of you guys again and punch boof in the nose for pretending that he chills with picard, i think he deserves the shameful bronze..... buddy lee is going to get the million hit combo, dooley dosent even know what is about to hit him, j.j. is going to have jerte stop when he sees me, the band(boof and stupid nick) are going to take over the world when we get back, and for the rest of you ....... watch the fuck out, iam gonna tie your hands and feet and put you in a sack......... blagghhhhhhhhhhhh!
see you all in two weeks,
clover.

p.s. i was really drunk when i wrote this and it may not make sence but that is really cool to all of the aussies in the world because they think about this stuff at breckey when the shrimp is on the barbie and the wavey is heating up the corny and they are trying on their new boardies to match their new thongs..........

outrage

ok so the liquor store called the system boget closes at 15 on sat. that's right 3 in the afternoon! we had to go buy some 3.5. the title of our new seven inch will be: fuck the systemboget!

sveeden, ya!

we are in stockholm now and it fucking rules. last night we saw bruce banner who were awesome and tonight we will see ...to what end. career suicide is playing on tuesday and of course we will see massgrav and diskonto on friday, its gonna be a good week. I've determined that the mediocre bands in sweden are miles above the bands that are suposed to be hot shit in america. all of the bands we've seen have been extremely tight and on the ball. the scene here is much different also, it appears that all shows take place at proper clubs. people here are really nice and actually want to talk to you compared to the rest of europe. last night we met one of the guys from sunday morning einsteins who was super rad, he is gonna meet us before the diskonto show and buy us beers. cheers! the beer laws here are even more fucked up than our own. you have to be 18 to drink in clubs but 20 to buy in liquor stores. you can only buy beer at liquor stores just like home, they have 3.5 (not 3.2!) everywhere else. the liquor store is only open until 6 mon to wed and open to 7 thurs to sat, closed on sunday with no sconnie near by. not to mention that the beer is rediculously priced. also when you go into a bar you must pay to check your coat which costs around $3, a beer at the bar costs at least $5. it's been snowing but it is not really cold at all, i see y'all in minnesota are finally getting the freezing balls cold, it's about time I say. i also learned there is a such thing as a swedish mile, it's ten km, figure that one out.

update

after frankfurt we went to cologne. cologne was really nothing special, we couldn't find much to do; the highlight of our cologne visit was drinking a 3 liter tower of beer. The waiter gave us a snotty "good luck" when he gave it to us as we had only an hour to finish before the bar closed. shit, we almost got the 5 liter tower. anyways the 3 liter tower was comleted with little problem and the prick waiter took our change thinking we were tipping him. after cologne we went to bremen and went to the becks brewery. it was cool, they give you plenty of beer and afterwards we went to the bar with a highschool band who was there with their band teacher. when they invited us it was a little strange, us being 24 and all but it turned out to be pretty cool, i wish i was getting drunk with my highschool teachers at 17, shit. we are now in copenhagen, its a cool city but it costs a fortune. we went and bought 3 beers each at the corner store last night and when we got out and I did the math in my head I realized we had just paid 8 dollars for 3 fucking beers. much to our delight we found some mexican today...ten dollars for a fucking burrito! arrrg. sorry to hear about getting beat up pete, though we are having problems telling exactly what happened, elaborate! We are going to sweeden on wednesday and get to see ..to what end?, massgrav and diskonto! cant fucking wait.
please do not use the comments as a bitching forum (jj i know you excited about joining the 21st century but shit!)
see yall in a few weeks
any progress on the party?

überbowl

we watched the superbowl at this irish pub in Frankfurt. the guy who owned the joint assured me that he would keep it open for the whole game, every one else I asked couldn't tell me if they'd stay open or just looked confused when i said "super bowl?" he was a very wierd guy making off hand coments like "rothlesberger, ah yes, its a kind of cheese from switzerland." anyways, good game, it was worth staying up til 5 for (i think boofter was the only person in the world that thought the seahawks could win that game but he also thinks they have sool jerseys, he probably thinks they are red and black or something).

today we went to the town where andy's parents lived in like '71. It was this little town called Ried not far from Frankfurt. We found the appartment that they stayed in and started taking pictures and this guy comes out and says some shit in german to us, he didn't sound too happy. Andy explained to him that his parents used to live here and introduced himself. He turned out to be the guy who owned the building, Gunter, and he remembered Andy's parents and invited us inside. He was so happy that we were there and showed us every angle of the building and even took us up to the Clover's old apartment. We talked with his wife and his son and they even fed us lunch! The language barrier was a little thick but they seemed so happy to have us and wanted to know everything about Andy's family. I can't even count the number of times he told andy "you say to parents, you say come to germany" and then made a circular motion with his hand; we got the picture. Gunter was a interesting old fellow, he said he was mad when we came up cause he thought we were gangsters or something, I had a little trouble following his explaination of why since it was in half german half english. anyways, it was a good experiance.

It really sucks to know that we are going to be home soon, our schedule is set: Tomorrow Köln, then Bremen, Copenhagen, Stockholm where we fly back to Brussels on the 25th then to Amsterdam for a few more days. We'll be back on the first of March, We'll be at the CC the second of March. Join us please. And I assume there will be a party on the weekend, who's throwing it???

On a musical note we saw Hjerte Stop from Copenhagen in Hamburg. Awesome band, they sound like regulations if they were as cool as everyone thought they were but faster. Get their seven inch at the record store, I think kick and punch put it out...

just some tidbits.

well, its been a while since i last posted on this here fine blog. as you all may know, mike done got his picture taker stoled. man that is so fucking lame. the worst part about the whole thing is that that was half of all the pictures we took. and secondly my camera takes the worst pictures known to man. i think i might just make one of those pin hole cameras and call it a day. but i digress. now, we are in hamburg for about 5 days and it seems pretty cool. lots of young people and MAD graffiti on every building. im not just talking about illegal graff, like huge murials on every building. we got into hamburg yesterday at about 3pm and checked into a hostel in a pretty cool neighborhood. we bummed around till about 8pm and then went down to the ever so famous reeperbahn where the beatles got their start. i had no idea that such a place existed in hamburg let alone anywhere outside of amsterdam. mike kind of knew what we should check out in the area so we began the tour of the reeperbahn. this place is a strip of a road about 10 blocks long where prostitution is legal, there are sex shops every 10 feet, weird old perverts lurking around every corner and "the gaurds" as we like to call them. "the gaurds" are the most intimidating females on the face of the planet. they are hookers who post up on this one block of the reeperbahn and gaurd this tiny block where the hookers are behind glass like in amsterdam. apparently to enter the tiny block you have to be 18 or whatever, we never found out because we were to scared of these prostitutes to have a look. so mike and i were walking down the street that runs parallel to the gaurded street and we chose the wrong side to walk down. these hooks stay on the opposite side of the street from the police station and spread the length of the entire street with about 4 feet between eachother. they were stopping us in our tracks speaking crazy german and broken english, pulling on our jackets and just generally harassing us. never in my life have i been so intimidated by a woman or should i say a gang of women. this block is pure insanity! i am so scared to even cross the street there. so after being accosted by crazy hookers we went to an open mic poetry slam. that was interesting to say the least. didnt understand a word that was said, but there were lots of fine women who didnt accost us in the place so that was alright. we are trying to spend as much time in germany as possible so as to avoid the highway robbery called sweden. the country is soooooooo expensive it hurts my brain just to think about it. but, we get to see to what end? diskonto massgrav bruce banner just to name a few. thats all for now, snorkel is a god among men, twentysevenshots is going to level the twin cities in about a month, ben rasta is the funniest man alive, dooley needs to cut his beard, j.j. holds it down like no other, mike lee, we will no longer be in amsterdam so dont bother, jordan kills it, and to everyone else, stay up!

jesus fucking christ

wow, you guys are making way too big of a deal about missing conflict. i mean you are the same fuckers that cry "10 dollars to see dead stop and regulations, waaaa, thats too much." so you're more willing to pay twenty euros (fucking euros!) to see a band that hasn't put out a good record since '84 than two current bands that are ripping shit up? i mean this thing was a bunch of old geazers getting together to stink up an auditorium for four days (im not shitting you, think of every old school band from this side of the world and they played) just for the mony. it was a bunch of old fucks charging €20 a day for shite, shite i tell ye. anyways i pretty much just wrote to bitch as i have nothing to say. im extremely dissapointed to see that mpls is warmer than here but what can you do. we went and saw sadat x, greg nice and atmosphere tonight and it was suprisingly really cool though i still don't get how german kids can even begin to figure out american hip hop. it was a much smaller show than it would have been at home, only like 100 kids there. we're going to copenhagen pretty soon than its off to sweeden where we will certainly freeze our balls off. ml or bruno, if you are reading this let us know of your plans as soon as possible as we might fly from finland to amsterdam to avoid the painful train ride, just give us a day if you are gonna be there. go steelers!

ups and downs, i guess

so simon wants to see more pictures, well, thats not going to happen unless we figure out how to use andy's wack camera (in which case you can see pictures with a nice yellow hue).
so the story goes......we went and saw a hockey game in prague on wednesday night skipping the defiance show that was sure to suck. afterwards we chilled in the hostel and got drunk with the aussies, said our goodbyes and took some pics. i woke up in the morning, my jacket was gone and inside my jacket was my camera. to make a long story short some junkies broke into the hostel on the apartment side and took my jacket and some aussie's bag (and i had a nice trip to the czech police station). fortunatly that was the only thing taken from our room as there was lots more to be taken. anyways, it sucks more to lose the pictures more than anything.
On the up and up we are now in berlin, i have a new carhart and we have seen two killer punk shows the last two nights at the famous kopi squat. last night we saw mihoin, a dutch hardcore band that absolutly crushed. classic dutch hardcore in the vein of seeing red and point of few and were in fact better than the previous mentioned bands. we talked to them after the show and they were some of the coolest dudes we've met so far on this trip. today (friday) we went and saw another show that was much more packed than last night but was just as cool. it seemed strait edge at first, all i saw were kids with youth of today shirts and gorilla biscuts patches but everyone was drinking. the first band sucked but the second band, the tangeled strings (?) ruled. hard to describe their style, they had a chick singer and coverd "young untill i die" which makes sense when you realize that kevin seconds sounds like a girl. also, an interesting note: berlin has a lot of pseudo punk rockers, people who dress punk just as a fashion. I reckon all these pseudo punks went to the concert tonight that featured conflict, sham 69 and the business. i just couldn't convince myself that i needed to see this show for €20, even though confilct is one of my favorite bands. lots of hot girls in berlin, mostly punk rock which is a plus. a note to robbie, we will try to get some flix of the said hotties.
sports wrap up:
the Über bowl shall certainlly a specatle. the steelers will conduct a thorough lashing complete with a spectacular performance by the long haired samoan; he will dominate and crush the will of the opponent with the force of a thousand hurricanes. not to mention the unstopable force of the bus who will ram, smash and shatter the weak line of defence known as the seahawks (who are all cryers as we know). the battle shall be victorious, celebrations shall rein out from point state park to butler to latrobe(is that right? im kinda making shit up).
ps we are gonna go see the number one cryer from mpls -- slug -- on sunday, he is playing with sadat x and greg nice, its cheap and it will be fun, but i wouldnt go see it in mpls, just looking for something to do...............

you get what you pay for

so we took a night train over to prague in order to save some cash. our friend lev said they were aweful but I figureed it couldn't be that bad; just give me a place to lay down and I can rough it. we bought what they call a "couchette" for about 12 euro each (much less than a nights stay in most of europe) and they were horrible. they stuff six people into a closet and 8 closets into a car with 1 bathroom, the conditions were crowded to say the least. we arrived early in the morning feeling like shit and took some aussies advice outside the train station to go to this hostel. "it looks like shit but trust me its fun, it costs 250 crowns (10 american dollars) and they have beer for 25(1 american dollar in case you can't put 2 and 2 together)." Our hostel is cold and shitty and there is this dude on the verge of death sleeping below me who makes noises like a dying animal but I guess its cheap. I suppose if I drink enough dollar liters I can sleep through anything. also the reception guy gave us a free beer for breakfast when we were checking in. ok....go steelers

Dachau

We went to Dachau today, fucking depressing man. Dachau was the first concentration camp set up by Hitler to jail his political enemies. He later used the camp to house all of the enemies of the Third Riech from Jews to homosexuals. No one was gassed to death on Dachau, they had gas chambers, but for some reason they were never used. Either way, something like 30,000 people were killed and we were not spared the gory images and details.

On a more positive note, Munich is a very cool place. We went to a beer garden and proceeded to drink Liter beers and listen to some banging traditional German music. Its fucking cold here, its been snowing and raining reminding me that its actually winter.

On a super positive note I sent an email to Steffe from Diskonto asking if they were playing any shows in Uppsalla in Feb. He replied saying that they aren't but if we would like we could come and watch them jam! Fuckin right! No doubt he will be taken up on his offer. Off to Prague tomorrow...I'm really not looking forward to coming home.

finish the fucking story asshole!

first officers log,
ok, sorry about the delay, the wack italian internet station cut my ass off midway through the story. you wouldnt believe what they charge for internet use out here. so, i think i left off where we got to the fountain and the coppers were there. so the aussies decide its not so good of an idea to take a dip in front of the police but the one crazy guy dylan has an idea to fake the cops out by bringing everyone around the corner for all of ten seconds so the cops will leave. of course this dosent work but he didnt care. "all i gotta do is slip into me boardies(swim trunks) and have a go(that means do it)!" so this guy strips down to his boardies and climbs over a 5 foot fence, into water up to his knees in 45f weather with two cops about 100 feet away and starts to climb a thousand year old monument with full knowledge that he will get caught. as soon as he gets to the center of the fountain, everyone starts taking pictures with flashes and the cops notice that theres a 6 foot 3 man standing in the middle of the fucking fountain. the lights come on and the cops pull up while the dude is running out and climbing the fence. the cops dont speak english and the dude dosent speak italian. all you heard is "it is forbidden, it is forbidden!" and "come with us now!" the dude says, "hold on and let me put me pants and me jumper on(a jumper is a sweater)!" all the while he is laughing and drying himself off with a beach towel. so, some girl we were with spoke italian and was pleading with the cops not to take him to the station. somehow, eventhough this guy was laughing in the cops face, they decided to take his hand and serously slap it and yell at him in italian. that was the punishment he recived. pretty serious huh? all in all, this was one of the funniest things i have ever witnessed in my life. after we post the pictures of this guy, iam sure you will get a laugh. i hope i did not disapoint with the ending. anyway, mike and i are now in munich and are going to visit a beer garden tonight and hopefully hear some awsome german music and get fully tossed. hope all is well in MPLS, keep the comments coming. props to dooley for the coments, i bet he cried during the tattoo, pussy. robbie and nick, you guys squab like little old women. one last thing, if someone posts a comment leave your fucking name in the body of the message so we can tell who it is ok. im out people.
clover.
p.s. today i was awoken to a hot english girl who was staying in our room in her little bootie underwear, not a bad sight at all.

a long time a commin

first officers log,
sorry for the lack of posts latley, switzerland will pinch all of the money you have and then some. anyway, we have been in italy for 5 days now and it fucking rules man. rome was something i had not expected, which was a blast. besides seeing 2000 yrs of history, we met some of the funniest motherfuckas alive. just to make the stories shorter i will expand on one instant in particular. we met this guy named dylan from australia (they are everywhere, trust me) and he was one of those people who your not sure is right in the head or not off the bat. this guy was insane ALL THE TIME. so one night, him and his aussie cohorts have a brilliant idea to go to the fountain of treve and climb the bitch with an australian flag and pose for pictures. now i know that all of you reading this may not know what the fountain of treve (right spelling?) is but that is what the internet is for. also i will post pictures of the fountain and the hijinx later. so, there is a fine for entering the fountain of €500 and some jail time. all the aussie kids knew this beforehand and decided to go with the plan, about 5 kids in all. somewhere in the night i lost mike and just ended up going the fountain with the aussies. we get there and of course the politzia are guarding the fountain and have fucking i just ran out of time gotta go. will update tomorrow

quick update

just a quick update. its been hard to write lately -- we were in Switzerland and their currancy carries as much wieght as gold pressed latnum; it cost about 4 american dollars for a half hour of internet. Anyways, we went to Interlaken Switzerland and other than the wack ass hostel we stayed in the place was spectacular. the town is in between two lakes and surrounded by mountains, I'll update with pictures when we get a chance. We got to go snowboarding, it cost a fortune but it was definetly worth it. The mountain kicked my ass, I'm still sore from all the abuse I took. We just arrived in Rome today after a crazy train ride, the italian trains are a mess. gotta go cause others are waiting to use the computer. hope all is well in MPLS. Peace

new years eve in barcelona

first officers log supplemental,
ah new years. what a night to out and about. we started the night at our hostel with our friend sebatian from argentina and met some girls from england, scotland, and poland. the girls had this crazy polish honey liquor that they demanded we drink as if it were water which was fine with us(pictures of the night will follow as soon as they e-mail them to us.) we tried to get on the metro to got to this fucking party we paid €40 for but the city closed the metro stops around the main stretch of downtown called la rambla. so, we ended up staying in the downtown area for midnight. man, there must have been 100-200 thousand people in the area and the cops had set up checkpoints to get on to the streets and were pouring everyones liquor into plastic cups because you couldnt have glass on the street. that was pretty funny to see cops acting like bartenders, you would think they would have better things to do. we saw this woman get on top of a cop car and do a jig then fall off onto the street. so, we did the whole countdown thing and walked to the nearest metro station. when we got to this party we soon found out that it was one of the most wack things we have paid money for on this entire trip. imagine a room lit up like the enterprise 1701-d with a bunch of idiots dressed to the nines who cant dance for shit. with the €40 we paid, the benevolant partythrowers decided to give us ONE free drink. wow. so i think we all got whiskey cokes and sat down to chill. the rest of the night was too complicated and long to get into here so all who wish to know, youll have to wait till march. trust me, its worth the wait. on another note, i hope everyone back in minnesnowda had a good new year, post with your stories. oh yeah, someone call dooley, it sound like hes going to die from boredom. and dooley, props on the tattoo, its about fucking time!
first officer clover
captains correction: By saying our story about new years is "worth the wait" andy makes it seem like something really cool happened like one of us got laid or somthing. Trust me your not waiting for shit, our story, while intersting, is not very cool. We are remitting the story from the blog in order to protect those who think we have "grown up" or "matured" with age. New Years proves that we haven´t. but were ok! cheers!
